Buying Medicines Online

It is very important that you buy medicines and obtain healthcare advice from a reputable source. To ensure you do this, there are a number of checks you can make before you buy:

Look for the Pharmacy’s name and address on their website and cross checking this with the information listed in the Register of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain;

Check that the Pharmacist is registered with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (to check a Pharmacist's Registration, click here);

Avoid websites that offer to supply prescription-only medicines without a prescription;

Check that you are asked questions before purchasing certain medicines. Registered pharmacies are required to check that certain medicines are suitable for a particular patient.

A Bit of History

Leedams' Pharmacy (originally Leedams' Chemists) was established in 1922 by my grandfather, Cyril Horsfall Leedam, in Nelson, Lancashire.

In 1952, the family opened the pharmacy in Colne, and was run by my father Alan Stansfield Leedam.

It is from these premises on Keighley Road that, my sister, Jackie, and I continue to serve the people of Colne and surrounding areas - and now, through the wonders of modern technology, anyone in Great Britain.

Throughout the more than 85 years of history of Leedams' Pharmacy, the face of Community Pharmacy and the NHS has changed dramatically; however, here at Leedams' Pharmacy we have always embraced these changes for the benefit of our patients, customers and staff.
